Mind Matters Network is a youth platform that brings together mental health initiatives so that it reaches both schools and university students at ground level. Each participating educational institute will be part of the Mind Matters Network which is a Peer Mental Health Group by integrating the Mind Matters programme in their clubs.
The participating institute will be supported by the core committee of the Mind Matters Network in terms of proposed activities, resources, networking and training.
In return, the participating institute may conduct a string of activities, suggestions will be provided in the Mind Matters booklet, to highlight and build mental health resilience and skills among their students.
Students will also have the opportunity to join events at national level where they have the opportunity to speak up, network and champion mental health advocacy in our local community.
We aim to address and emphasise the importance of youth mental health in Malaysia by creating a youth support system.
We centre our focus on 3 key areas:
Mental health advocacy plays an important role in bringing enlightenment and breaking the stigma within our community.
Mind Matters Network aims to establish mental health literacy as part of its role in advocacy.
Our Youth Mental Health Handbook has been the first step in making our mission come to life – with over 2000 copies sold all across Malaysia!
Collaboration is not only necessary but essential in bringing positive change within our community. It is through these partnerships that we believe our visions will be strengthened and our mission brought to life.
MMN brings together mental health institutions in our various events and programs to spark candid conversations that break the stigma surrounding mental health and drives the youth mental health agenda to the forefront of our country.
We are group of like-minded youth from different backgrounds coming together to create mental health awareness and take action in support of our youth community. Establishing a reliable and quality support system has been one of MMN’s key missions.
We are in the process of launching our first ever pilot group therapy sessions for 18-25 year olds. These will be conducted as a hybrid of online and face-to face sessions with excellent therapists from around Malaysia!
